Taking Inspiration from BIG decisions.
“The goal is to focus on what connects, rather than what divides us.” – The Duke & Duchess of Sussex
You might have noticed a bit of a hoo-hah today, with the news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided to step back from ‘senior’ roles within the Royal Family.
It matters not if you are an avowed royalist, we can all take heart from this news, and use it to inspire our own decision making.
Their news release starts by saying “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution”
How does this apply to you?
What Harry and Meghan are doing is shaking off the shackles of the past. They believe that they can stay true to themselves only by making big decisions that will have potentially challenging repercussions. They know it will not be an easy journey. They know they will be criticised as well as praised, but won’t take heart from the naysayers.
Their shackles are their families, expectations and traditions. YOURS may well also be family. There will definitely be traditions (or habits) that hold you back, and until you reflect on these you may not even realise they are there.
This is what you can do.
- Take stock of where you are, reflect on where you have come from, what you have achieved, and what goals you TRULY WANT to reach.
- Decide what you want, not what you think you should want, or what others might want.
- TAKE ACTION. It may not be as big as the Sussex’s but even that should not hold you back.
- Believe in yourself
- Seek support from those that also believe in you
You can do this!
